Basic Irc Commands

 

NICK

Usage: /nick <nickname>
Example: /nick estrella
Function: This command use for change your nick.

JOIN

Usage: /join <channelname>
Example: /join #spiderslair
Function: Join the specified channel.

AWAY

Usage: /away <message>
Example: /away I m not here.
Function: This command use then you are busy.

BACK

Usage: /away
Example: /away
Function: Use for stop away message.

UMODE

Usage: /umode [+|-<mode>]
Example: /umode +e
Function: This command organize user modes.

MODE

Usage: 1. /mode <yournick> [+|-<mode>]
2./mode <channel> +|-<mode> [<value>] [<channel>|<nick>|<user@host>]
Example: 1. /mode Micro +EL
2. /mode #training +b-o *!*Micro@*.superonline.com Derek
Function: 1. This command organize user modes.
2. This command organize channel modes.

PASS

Usage: /pass <yourpasswordhere>
Example: /pass ahandaahankimlergelmis
Function: This command identify your nick to nickserv.

LIST

Usage: /list [ (<>number) <mask> ]
Example:
1. /list

(List all channels in network)

2. /list >5 <60

(List channels between 5 - 60)

3. /list chat
4. /list #channel (List user numbers in specified channel.)
5. /list >10 chat
Function:
1. List all channels in network.
2. List channels between 5 - 60.
                                                            

WHOIS

Usage: /whois <nick>
Example: /whois Maximum
Function: Shows information about specified nickname.

WHOWAS

Usage: /whowas <nick>
Example: /whowas Heat
Function: Shows information about specified nickname when leave server.(Limit 10 min).

WHO

Usage: /who <channel>|<nick|parameter>
Example: 1. /who #Help
2. /who Jason
3. /who *greennet.net
Function: 1. Shows users informations about specified channel.
2. Shows information about specified user.
3. Shows information about specified user defined some parameters.

 

PING

Usage: /ping <server yada nick>
Example: 1. /ping irc.greennet.net
2. /ping focus
Function: These commands are used to determine the length of time it takes to send a signal to another host on
IRC and then back again. The time is reported in seconds.

SILENCE

Usage: /silence [<nick>|<user@host>]
Example: 1. /silence flodernick yada /silence *!*lamer@*.flooder.net
2. /silence -floodernick yada /silence -*!*lamer@*.flooder.net
3. /silence
Function: 1. Add nick or channel to silence list.
2. Remove nick or channel to silence list.
3. Show silence list.

MSG

Usage: /msg <nick|channel> <message>
Example: 1. /msg #webchat How are u?
2. /msg Jennifer Hi Jenn
Function: Send message to specified nick or channel.

PRIVMSG

Usage: /privmsg <nick|channel> <message>
Example: 1. /privmsg #webchat How are u?
2. /privmsg Jennifer Hi Jenn
Function: Send private message to specified nick or channel.

NEWJOIN

Usage: /newjoin <kanal>
Example: /newjoin #webnet-help
Function: for join to new channel.. (only Java users)

TOPIC

Usage: /topic <channel> <topic>
Example: /topic #Greennet Greennet Administraton Channel.
Function: For change channel topic

KICK

Usage: /kick <kanal> <nick> <sebep>
Example: /kick #kahkaha.com CeLLaD be gone!!.
Function: Kick users to channel

INVITE

Usage: /invite <nick> <channel>
Example: /invite estrella #operhelp
Function: Invite user to specified channel.

ISON

Usage: /ison <1.nick> <2.nick>
Example: /ison B'z Banjo Derek CeLLaD
Function: Showa specified nick if online.

TIME

Usage: /time <server>
Example: 1. /time
2. /time irc.greennet.net
Function: 1. Show local network time.
2. Show irc.greennet.net time

MOTD

Usage: /motd <server>
Example: 1. /motd
2. /motd irc.greennet.net
Function: 1. Show "message of the day" in network
2. Show "message of the day" in irc.greennet.net.

LUSERS

Usage: /lusers
Example: /lusers
Function: Show users numbers, operatos connection in network.

NAMES

Usage: /names <channel>
Example: 1. /names #webchat
Function: 1. Show users to specified channel.

LINKS

Usage: /links
Example: /links
Function: Show links connect to network.

SERVER

Usage: /server <server>:<port>
Example: /server irc.greennet.net:6667
Function: Connect network to selected link with port number

PART

Usage: /part <channel>
Example: /part #greennet
Function: Leave a channel.

QUIT

Usage: /quit
Example: /quit
Function: Leave to network.

NOTICE

Usage: /notice <nick|channel> <message>
Example: 1. /notice #Greennet How are u guys!
2. /notice reco Naber koç?
Function: Send message to specified channel or nickname.
